Al-Shabaab has lost much of territories it once controlled thanks to the relentless and continued bombardment of its bases by the Somali National Army (SNA). In the latest assault on the group, SNA has liberated the village of Kabis in Luq district.
SNA soldiers have seized assorted weapons and a technical vehicle in a covert operation in that village. Gedo Deputy Governor, Osman Nur Hajji, said soldiers who acted on a tip off successfully engaged Al-Shabaab fighters near Luq district.Residents of Kabis village are happy and have welcome the Somali government to the newly liberated village.
In Bar-Sanguni, locals have expressed how life has changed after the town was liberated from the clutches of the blood-sucking group al-Shabaab.“We used to get punished for no reason but now you have to commit a crime for you to get punished and the punishments are appropriate,” said one resident.
In areas liberated from al-Shabaab like Afgoye, people used to watch international matches in secret when it was under the group but are now happier and can watch their favourite matches in public.
